Our friend Joy, of Oh Joy! is a force to be reckoned with. She is smart and driven, caring and warm; she is the kind of woman you’d want to call for business advice, and then go to the mall. Joy literally wrote the book on blogging: Blog, Inc.

We spent the afternoon with Joy and Ruby and couldn’t help but try and seep in all the wisdom and experience possible from Joy. Taking simultaneous mental notes about her impeccably organized clothing drawers and how she juggles business and family. Here’s what Joy had to say on the latter:
“The idea of balance as a working mom is a myth. Really, it’s a juggle, and we all do the best we can to juggle what’s most important to us in our lives. I love my job, and feel so lucky to do something I enjoy every day. But after Ruby came into our lives, family took an immediate first place priority in my life, and work became second. I said no a lot more to opportunities that came my way that I would have taken in a second pre-baby. I always think to myself… “If I’m going to be away from my daughter for work, it’s got to be a project, an experience, a trip, or a job that makes the time away from her worth it.” Reminding myself of this has really helped me to focus on quality over quantity when it comes to my business and feel less guilty when I can’t attend every event, party, meeting, or conference that’s going on.
I could go on about the “juggle” forever, as I think it’s a constant struggle for all working moms out there, so here’s a little more about it from me if you want to hear more.”

Such a great video! I loved ever second of it. In the blog world we always feel like “know” the blogger behind the blog so it’s always nice to get a peek into their daily lives that is more than just their written words. Loved it!
