an adoption blog: give 1 save 1

As we wrapped up Adoption Week, so many of you were moved and asked how you could help. Give1Save1 contacted us and we wanted to share their story for those of you looking to give aid, or get aid in your adoption journey. Meet Wynne from Give1Save1:
Hi, yall! My name is Wynne + it’s an honor and joy to get to introduce you to Give1Save1!

While I’m tempted to say I’m just a contributor for this blog, the amazing truth is my family (along with 110+ others!) have been personally affected by the generosity of this community. My good friend Beth started this site when her and her family were in the process of adopting their sweet Jude from Ethiopia.

I just happen to be in Addis Abbaba, Ethiopia when they picked him up, and I had the honor witnessing their genuine and complete love for this little boy who once was an orphan and now is a son. So back to Beth. She started this site because she thought, “not everyone can give $30,000 but what if 30,000 gave $1?” As you might could guess, international adoption is expensive and not only is it expensive but it’s also a long process. The thing I love most about Give1Save1 is not just the financial burden it helps to bear for families, but the community that it initiates. I personally have gotten to know & befriend numerous gals that represent families who were featured on this site.

The goal is to have a new family featured every week. What started as simply an “Africa” based site has now turned global – the landing page of the website gives you an interactive world map that allows you to click on the various campaigns. Included are Domestic adoption, African adoption, European adoption, Asia adoption, and Caribbean adoption. Each site as a new family each week! The family is encouraged to make a short video and then let the magic happen! Let me just show you what I mean:

My family was featured on the give1save1 Africa site in January 0f 2012. The timing for our give1save1 week could not have been more perfect, without the money we raised we would not have been able to accept the referral of our son THAT WEEK, which we were totally not expecting. But God knew, He knew all along and He knew that the give1save1 was the avenue He could use!

We raised $5,278 that week!!

what we didn’t know at the time, was God was soon to bless us with not ONE but TWO babies from Ethiopia.

Camp Abel + Asher Asanti

So these donations, and the love and support behind the donations made all the difference in the world. 9 months later, we were able to bring our babies home!

We have been so blessed by the Give1Save1 community and challenge you to get involved! Subscribe to the emails, follow us on facebook, help spread the word about our fundraising families and donate your dollars each week! I promise you, you will be blessed and be a blessing. Also, if you are a fundraising family, visit your country/continents respective site and you will find contact information on how to be a featured family!
