best seat in the house

Kathy, the Mama Bliss Coach and Simplicity Parenting Group Leader over Bliss Beyond Naptime asked us to share the spaces in our homes that provide us with the most peace and harmony throughout the day. Here’s our picks:

JENNA:

I really believe that my home can be a sanctuary and safe haven for my family. It’s a place where I don’t want to find a lot of clutter, chaos or confusion because there’s enough of that in the outside world! I love this front room in our house, it’s the place the baby and I will go to in the early morning of the hours while the rest of the house is sleeping. We snuggle and even watch the sunrise on particularly early days. It’s a quiet, book-filled room that doesn’t see a lot of action but because of that it’s a tidy space where I can read to my children without being distracted by the mess of the rest of the house. I feel focused and at peace in this room, I know my family does too.

EMILY:

It seems my bedroom room more than any other is the most calming and peaceful room in the house. The color scheme is whites and grays with a few black accents here and there. We have black-out shades; best nap room in the house! And we keep it nice and cool, with fluffy feathery pillows and blankets. It seems every morning we all end up piled in the bed for a little while before the chaos of the day begins.Emily | Small Fry

NICOLE:

It’s funny because these photos were taken at my mom’s house, but I would pick the same area I feel is the most harmonious at both her home and mine. The dining area, is a place I gather with my family and snack and talk and connect. It’s a place where we can all gather and enjoy each other over food, games, or even paying bills. It’s just where we’re most often together, so of course it’s where I’m happiest.

For those who are interested: Kathy’s new workshop series kicks off soon which features courses on environment, rhythm, scheduling and filtering which are all aspects of her favorite read “Simplicity Parenting.” Visit her blog to win a copy!

But before you go, we’d love to know what rooms in your homes bring you the most peace and harmony! Did they just naturally become that way, or was there a conscious effort to enhance those feelings?
