FRYday : Making 2014 Count

We’re back with the link-up we mentioned last week, and so excited to read everyone’s responses. We hope you’ll join us, and to do so, read this post for the prompts for the month, and keep reading for link-up instructions! Make 2014 Count

We each grabbed the questions we liked and we’re ready to take 2014 by storm and celebrate all along the way! (We’re thinking having confetti on hand wherever we go is a good start. Rocking pajamas is a close second.) Read all about it after the jump.

Jenna:

THE GOAL:

My goal for 2014 is to let go of unrealistic expectations I set for myself on a daily basis. I find I let myself down a thousand times a day by simply doing too much or expecting too much! I have small children at home, so why does it make me so frustrated that my house seems to be always a mess? It really shouldn’t if I think about it. To fully accept the season I’m in and by setting realistic expectations, I hope to be a more patient, easy going and happy person.

I’ve started writing down goals I have for the week, but making them simple so I can see how MUCH I actually am able to accomplish. Simple tasks like clean the bathroom, make dinner three times this week, take the dry cleaning etc… The more I acknowledge how much I am accomplishing the less I’ll get down on myself which only ends up getting in my way in the end.

THE WORD:

I love this challenge and I’ve never done it before! This year I choose the word ‘immovable.’ So often the world around me spins chaotically and I spin with it. I want to take more moments to be still, to not move and to feel the quiet peace of my life and earth around me. I also want to be immovable in my faith, my principles and in my aspirations. To always be an example of the person I want to be, to be immovable in what I know to be my authentic self.

MAKE IT COUNT:

It’s important to me to always be mindful of those around me. To give to those who have not, even when it isn’t always easy for me. I want 2014 for my children to be a year of giving, charity, service and love.

Emily:

THE GOAL: I want to dig deep this year. To really look inside myself and make changes, release the hurt, let go of the disappointments and short-comings and learn to love myself. And not just the convenient lovable things, but everything. To release myself from being anything other than who I really am, and who I’m really meant to be.

THE WORD(S):

With Hayesie starting preschool this year, we picked a family theme back in August that would help guide this new chapter of our lives. I think about it often and it applies to so many things I hope for in 2014, too. I think I’ve shared before, but Hayes was always pretty timid. I had this uneasiness about him going into school. Picturing him scared and unsure with a group of strangers, teachers and students alike, made me want to cry. So as a family we picked “Fresh Courage Take” as our theme. It’s a small lyric of a song written about our Pioneer ancestors and for every moment of hardship, for every new experience, exciting endeavor, it reminds us all to be brave and puts it all back into perspective. When I see the growth in Hayes the last few months in school, how he’s enjoying himself and is kind and friendly to others, it’s easy to see that the motto was really more for me then him.

Nicole:

THE WORD:

The word I want to reflect for 2014 came to me while watching one of my favorite “go to” films. I watch this film nearly every time I have a bad day: You’ve Got Mail.  There is a moment when Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) hears her mother described as Enchanting. That word always sticks with me. I want to be Enchanting to my children. I want to make every moment of their childhood Enchanting, and our memories together, even more so.

MAKE IT COUNT:

For 2014 I’m making it count by putting my family as my absolutely #1 priority.

I am much like Jenna and feel that we place too much pressure on ourselves, every single day. This time of year, it is too often intensified. Expectations run far too high and really, for what reason? We only become impatient and grumpy with the people in our lives who deserve us at our very best, always.

We are making a resolve this year to “let it be.”
It truly is a thing of beauty. Laundry can always be done later but truly, our babies dont keep.

An interesting dialogue is worth comment. I think that it’s best to write
more on this matter, it might not be a taboo subject but generally individuals are not enough to
speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

Similar to many organizations, the La – Porte County IT department must accommodate and support
many different departments, each with a variety of document and
record management needs. Today, most organizations take days to manually read and
sort inbound communications before scanning and routing
them for action. So I took it with me to review at lunch and pencil in a few changes.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get
that “perfect balance” between usability and visual
appeal. I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Firefox.

    Exceptional Blog!

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be
