If you saw last week’s
FRYday post you heard the groundbreaking news 😉 that we’re all eating healthier lately. We know the benefits of making healthy choices, but our kids need a little bit more persuasion. Here are three awesome and healthy snacks that everyone can enjoy!
Banana Butter Sandwiches
Slice bananas in to 1/4 in slices. Spread almond butter or natural peanut butter (lots of stores have a station to make your own on the spot!) on one side and close with another slice of banana. Eating a good fat with fruit helps properly metabolize the natural sugars.

They are plenty sweet as is but did you know that drizzling locally harvested honey can help build an immunity against seasonal allergies? (Locals, Real Foods Market has the most gorgeous local honey and honey combs, if you’re looking!)

Honey Cinnamon Pears
Slice 3 Anjou Pears and place in bowl. Drizzle that locally harvested honey over the top and sprinkle cinnamon! Another awesome fact we’ve read is that combining cinnamon and honey have shown to improve congestion and respiratory issues! Spritz with lime wedges for an added kick.
Swap this recipe out for apples to enjoy year round!
Sweet Potato Chips with Homemade Ketchup

Chips
Preheat oven to 400 degrees, with racks in center and lower positions. Divide sweet potatoes between 2 rimmed baking sheets. Drizzle with oil, toss, and spread them in a single layer on sheets. Bake, flipping once, until centers are soft and edges are crisp, 22 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle with salt.
Ketchup
12oz Tomato Paste
- 1.5 Cup Water
- 2 T Vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp All Spice
Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan. Simmer for a few minutes, stirring often. Transfer ketchup to a glass container and refrigerate!
Note: All these snacks are Paleo approved, but in no way are we encouraging or insinuating that children should be on any diet or constricted eating plan. Paleo is one of many terms that deduces a specific set of guidelines to determining the healthfulness in food. We promote healthy and informed eating for all ages!
