Also for those who asked here are her budget decor tips!
- Don’t buy anything you can’t afford to replace. I want my kids to feel like they can live in their own house. I don’t stress if they have a pillow fight with my cushions or jump on my couch because if worse comes to worse we can get a new one.
- Don’t just buy it because it’s on sale, wait until find what you want. Then if you love it you will make it work in all your spaces and the pieces will travel with you.
- Always look vintage first, KSL or Craigslist for dressers and other pieces that stand up to multiple owners. If you want quality, vintage is typically made a lot sturdier and it will be the same price as new.
- DIY – Art and other decor items are easy to DIY but add so much personality and life to a space. Kids art is another way to get color and vibrancy and movement to a space without feeling like it has to be perfect. They’re going to think you bought it anyway so they’re likely not going to criticize it anyway. And if they do, they’re dumb. If you don’t feel confident in making it, Society 6 has an amazing collection of original art and you can buy it in whatever medium and size you need.
Society6 tip! You can search for whatever style of art you are looking for and find something that fits you perfectly! Like Pop Art or Pattern. Then once you start seeing patterns in artists you like you can search just their shops, favorite them for later, like Frank Moth or Kevin Russ.
