#framefarme: THE TOUR

Welcome to the official Frame Farme tour!! Brought to you by the amazing manufacturer, Marazzi USA who supplied all the tile in our home. In my humble opinion, save only the windows, the tile absolutely makes this house what it is! We couldn’t have built this home without them and they are as good as family to us. We couldn’t be more grateful and I finally get to share what we’ve been working on with them for 2+ years! All photos were shot by Marazzi, except for those noted. You can see ALL the tile the house in one neat landing page on their site here, so go check it out!

The Marazzi team came all the way from Dallas to meet us two years ago and design the tile plan for our home. This was taken August 9, 2017!! Micah and Audrey – their amazing marketing masters, and Shelly – their design director had such a vision for this project and were so wonderful to collaborate with! They patiently waited while we built the home and came back to shoot our home in November of 2018. They were really the only ones besides us that went through the process from start to finish. They were invested, too! Showing them the house in person was such a huge moment for both Russ and I!

Even now, a few months later the decor and finishing touches aren’t completed to my liking (maybe never will be!) But, I wanted to give an honest look at the space as it is and how we accomplished making each space functional even if it wasn’t totally complete! And on a very small budget to boot.

Buckle up for the biggest post I’ve ever written!

“Glacier” Limestone by Sunset Stone // Wood Paneling: We used a Japanese firing technique called Su Shugi Ban which seals it from water and fire damage and gives it this rich brown, sometimes black coloring! // Windows: Andersen Windows 100 Series // Door: Custom door by CBW // Garage Doors by Vidor //

TILE: Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove 12×48

#framefarme main living

Tile: The majority of the house (except for bathroom) is a wood look tile by Marazzi called Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove. I fell in love with it at their showroom and knew it would be perfect. It is hardy, and has taken an absolute beating and looks as good as the day we installed it. It is SO beautiful and we couldn’t be happier with it! //  Door: CBW Custom Door // Black Chandelier via Lamps Plus // Custom Neon by Echo Neon (it says “Ten Twenty” which is our anniversary, 10.20.2005 // Runner via Rugs USA // Credenza: wall mounted Ikea Besta // Plant on Credenza is called “String of Bananas” // Woven Slipper Basket is old CB2 // Planter: Ikea with “Snake Plant” inside // Christ Painting via Latter Day Home //

TILE: Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove 12×48

Paint: // Repurposed Ikea Besta Drawers from the boys’ room with a cabinet grade plywood on top! We hope to do a more customized and functional built-in system in the future, but this works for now! // Old Target Chair, Similar Office Chair // Sea Urchin Light via Lamps Plus // All Frames // Art: Yago Hortal // OK Olivia Calendar // Shapes 3D Mobile: a gift, source unknown // (Outer office photos by me, middle by Marazzi.)

Marazzi brought Shelly Halbert, their Director of Design from Dallas and helped me really button up this room (the whole house, let’s be honest!) for the shoot. We have big plans for this room and I’ll be sure to keep you updated as we work on it!

TILE: Fireplace – Classentino Marble in Centurio Black (Polished) 24×48 // Floor – Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove 12×48

#framefarme Master BedroomI think the fireplace tile looks so incredibly luxe. It instantly added a richness to the room! The color provided the contrast that these white walls so desperately needed and the large scale tiles made the install job super quick! I love that the pattern is interesting but not busy. It feels very calming to the eye and won’t compete with any decor choices in the future.

Bed, Chairs, Basket by bed and Yellow Pillows: Ikea // Furry Pillows, Plant stand by bed, throws, and basket by fireplace: Target // Bedding is old West Elm // Prada Art // Vintage blue side table // Lights — temporary, one of our scones broke the night before and we didn’t have time to replace it! But we had these lights before the incident. 😉 // Fireplace insert is “Icon” by Heatilator size 42″ and we had them paint the brick black!

TILE: Floor – Classentino Marble in Palazzo White – Polished 24×24  // Backsplash on vanity – Luminescence in Charcoal // Shower surrounds – Classentino Marble in Palazzo White – Polished 12×24 // Shower and Laundry tray floor – Cenutrio Black Matte 2×3 Linear Hex //

#framefarme MASTER LAUNDRYThis room is our show stopper, and it’s all because of the tile. I love seeing people’s reactions and we get the most questions about this room so it will be the next post in this series so I can tackle them all in depth!

Chandelier above tub // Roller blinds via BlindsGalore.com // Shower Head and Sprayer // Tub and Vanity faucets // Tub // Cabinets (we did these throughout the home, they’re quarter sawn oak with a white wash stain!) // Pulls // Marble Countertops are Calcatta Zeus // Sinks // Medicine Cabinet Mirrors are Godmorgon via Ikea //

Fireplace Tile – Modern Formation in Smoky Ridge Unpolished 24×48 // Floor Tile – Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove 12×48

#framefarme : MAIN LIVINGThis is the room we spend nearly all our waking hours in. It is the highest traffic, most messes made, and the first thing you see when you come to visit. We’ve dropped pots and pans, rode scooters and drug furniture, had dance parties, wrestling matches, and it had full of guests and their dirty boots ;). And with a quick wipe of the mop it looks brand new every single time. I am the first to admit that the Frames are HARD on our stuff. And we needed something to meet the challenge. Chateau Reserve is it. I’ll shout it from the rooftops forever more.We plan to get a (cream am I crazy?) rug here eventually, but I have loved the ease of cleaning. I run through with my Dyson, mop, and can get it done in no time at all.#framefarme main living

Chandelier (we are lowering the chandelier several feet but will need to set up scaffolding to do so, so it’s low on the priority list, ha!) // Couch // Bone Inlay Coffee Table // Chairs // Credenza is Besta with high gloss green fronts // Fireplace insert is “Icon” by Heatilator and we had them painted black, this one is 50″.  // Art was a gift from Russ’ Grandma “Pip” it’s a painting her friend did of her in college that Russ always loved!

Floor Tile – Chateau Reserve in Hickory Grove 12×48

This dining table is from Article and was a loan for this shoot because Russ will be making ours. We use a foldable dining table when we need to and fingers crossed he gets some free time soon!  // Chairs // Silverware — they will do custom orders if you message them. I ordered 12 pieces each of just the forks spoons and knives, the dessert spoons are very tiny and I didn’t think I’d use them. // Table runner is Target.

Island Tile – Midpark Mosaic in Cloud White (this tile has a cool combination of polished, unpolished, wood look and cement look tiles!)

#framefarme kitchen

Pantry Organization

Appliances are Maytag // Light Fixture via Lamps Plus // Quartz is Calcatta Statuario //  Sink is Silgranit // Cabinet Pulls // Faucet + Disposal Button // Soap Dispenser // Pot Filler // Counter Stools are “Terracotta” via Industry West // The Pantry goes behind the stove area and we used Dollar Tree bins to organize! (Pantry photo by me)

Tile: D_Segni in Birdseye (Chalk/Mud /Midnight/Sand Blend)

This tile was my favorite pick of all. Just for the personality, pattern and color scheme. Marazzi has so many patterned options which are super trendy now, but they do them so classically!

Tile // Sink // Mirror is custom made by Szklo Glass // Faucet // Toilet Roll holder // Hand Towel Ring // Robert and Stella Flower Art // Wildfield Handlettered Quote // Towel Rack // Mat, Hand Towel and Basket on toilet are Target // Basket on floor is Ikea // Drinking Fountain is Elkay

The loft is where we store all our craft supplies, books, and is the only carpeted area of the whole house. My kids make something in the loft nearly every day, and I’m thrilled that they use it for what it was intended for. I wanted a place away from the main living spaces that they could be creative and I wouldn’t be hovering and stressing about messes. Believe me, it’s a mess. Always.

Carpet is Tuftex by Shaw. Different stores carry different colors so you’ll need to call ahead to see what your local one has! // Glass Railings by Glass Images // Stair Railings made by Russ and his dad // Piano is Secondhand, from 1970s I’m told! // Russ made the book shelves custom, paint color is “Festival Yellow” by Glidden // Cabinets were custom made and the tops are the cabinet grade plywood again! Well be replacing that table top as needed and so cost effective was key! // Office chairs are Article (they don’t raise or lower, just FYI), we have spots for 3 to study at.

Loft photos by Hunter Fowler and me.

I got SO much feedback about having tile in the basement. I wouldn’t change it for the world. After I write about the master bath I’ll be telling you more about this!Couch is old from Copenhagen West in SLC // Custom Canvas Prints of Family photos // Vintage Laundry Container // Brown Chairs, lamp and side table from Ikea // Vintage National Geographics // Local Artist Portraits of our family

Floor Tile – Block 12×24 in Silver // Wall Surround Tile – Middleton Square in Oxford White

Quartz is Calcatta Zeus // Faucet // Shower Head // Hooded Towels are Kindhood // 1885 NYC Map // Clear Shampoo Bottles // Custom Mirror via Framing Establishment

budget home: dot and bo

Dot & Bo has a sale going on today so let’s check them off the list of Budget Home stops I love and haven’t covered yet! ALSO! Sharing a quick video tour on Insta Stories of the house progress if you want to check it out! We have a busy week up at the house and our next update the house is going to look a lot different! Eek!

Top Row – Love this chaise slash bench for an entry way. // I LOVE these chairs, and know several of my friends do too, these are 2 for $150 which I feel like is a freaking steal! // This couch comes in a few colors and is $800 down from $2000. Super long and great lines could be styled to suit so many different decor tastes!

Middle Row- For those of you on the hunt for outdoor furniture this set is under $1000. I know they’re hard to find and this one comes in to colors! This set of shelves with built in hanging bars is genius. Comes with 2 and would be a nice break from the regular towel bar we’re all forced to buy. // Another sweet bench for dining, entry, the foot of a bed. Easy and beautiful.

Bottom Row – Had to show the couch in gray. Its crazy how color totally changes the vibe. This easy end table with hair pin legs lends itself to so many different decor styles. On sale, too! In my experience you can’t even buy the supplies to DIY this table yourself for this cost, so for sure a good deal! // This modular set of shelves is such a great idea for a growing evolving family. If you move often, or like to switch things up in your house these are great! Change them up to fit whatever space or shape you like! I always love orange, too.Dot and Bo

budget home: H&M Home

Today’s Budget Home is at my favorite clothing store and yours: H&M! I would categorize them more as small furnishings and decor, but so many good finds nevertheless. They do drama and things with a Nordic flare so well. Their kids room line is exceptional, too! As seen below:
And of course, all totally reasonably priced! That pink rug is $129 and a 5×7! I got these tassel pillows for my couch and have several of their baskets, too! Take and look and tell me what you think.

budget home: overstock

Happy mid-week everyone! Today’s post is the next in my Budget Home series! (Catch the rest here) Truthfully I could dedicate every post on Small Fry until the end of time to Overstock finds, its just a HUGE daunting, but amazing resource for home on a budget. But, what is better than budget home finds, than budget home finds on sale? So today I’m only showing you my favorites from their Labor Day Sale, but be warned there’s about a million amazing things not on sale, but of course still in the aforementioned budget category. 🙂

budget home: urban outfitters

Happy Fryday everyone! Next up in this Budget Home series is Urban Outfitters! Urban shines, for me, in it’s art and wall decor and also its smaller furniture pieces. Art in the home is what makes it YOURS and gives it life. It’s what takes something from a showroom or catalog feel to personal and lived in, and something worth talking about! I like decorating with a little humor and try not to take it so seriously and UO has that on lock. I know UO comes across SUPER boho and layered and even messy at times, but I think when used in doses it adds so much character. One of my favorite old Home Tours cites Urban Outfitters products throughout the whole house and I think when you check it out you’ll see it’s done just right!

Also a mother perk, if you have a small space UO is for you. Their scale seems to be tailored for smaller spaces and they do it so well!Budget Home: Urban Outfitters

Here’s my favorite pieces currently. All so affordable and on trend. I also love that Urban Started offering framed art which makes it SO much easier. They carry all the best finishes and then you can also buy frames separately in walnut, black and white, too! I can’t believe what people are charging for framing these days, so these are great affordable options in the finishes you want!

budget home: world market

One of the post requests I got earlier this week was for more budget home posts! So down to do that! I’ll just start off this series by highlighting some of my favorite places to shop and what I love from their offerings! I have World Market on the brain since I feared a space via Hej Doll that included their outdoor seating. You guys LOVED it (so do I) so here it is again for reference.World Market Budget Home World Market is so affordable and filled with on-trend decor and furniture that, I’d say with the way Target is going, around the same prices. Here’s something I love from each category on their site:budget home: world market

This velvet green couch is such a steal! I love the legs and the lines. Would be such an easy piece to work into a bigger space of have it be the focal point, too! // This 8×10 rug is less than you’ll pay at most places. // I love this combo sputnik and sea urchin style chandelier. $250, seriously? // This gold cart is on sale and I love it for my living room. Keep toys in it and the wheels make it that much easier for clean up at the end of the day. So versatile so when you get sick of it in a space you can cart it to the next room. Bathroom cart with towels and TP? Sure thing. // This is a near 3 foot brass mirror for $130. Steal. // I love this triangle shelf. I feel like I am running out of surfaces to style and I love that this one can be out of reach for small hands. Fill it up with plants and travel knick knacks. // More shelving options, I’d buy three of this mirrored brass geometric beauty  and stagger slash cluster them on the wall! // I love World Market so much for their kitchen gadgets. They have so many good ones! Never thought of this but now I need – sponge holder! You could probably get use out of it in the shower as well but keep those sponges dry and easy to find! // Such a mom right now but I’d use this copper drying rack for bottles. Why can’t everything functional be this pretty! // Bought these vintage chip clips immediately. Ikea’s don’t work or at least we don’t know how to open chip bags without ruining them so these are a much better option for us!
