britax boulevard

So stoked to have Britax send their new Boulevard ClickTight in Cool N Dry fabric  for a review! We were coming up on the expiration date for our carseat (used it with all three boys) and it was for sure time fora fresh one! Here are some features and things I am loving about this carseat!Britax Boulevard Review

The look. Call me vain but I love the look of this seat. The casing around the sides feels so sleek and this Boulevard seat is made with their Cool n Dry fabric which looks amazing even after being wiped down. Raleigh runs hotter than my other boys, he gets red faced and after running for 30 seconds and is constantly sweaty! So having a fabric with him in mind is so nice! I just wish I had this for Summer because he was constantly complaining about being hot!

Cool Max Review

The Click Tight system. I haven’t ever used a Britax seat before but this technology is super cool! It makes installing the seat so so easy and you don’t have to wonder if it’s secure. You push the button and it automatically sets the tension for the different seat belts so the carseat doesn’t budge!

Britax Boulevard Review

A few other safety features I love are the SafeCell Impact Protectors. That same shell I loved for the look? Also helps absorb shock in side impact situations. Britax has created impact absorbers for the base, frame, harness and tether so if Heaven forbid you get in an accident all these places of impact are ready to lessen the effects. Do you see the harness impact absorbers with that grey rubber encasement around the belt? It takes some getting used to as it takes more effort to move up and down, but I have found that it stays in place more readily, avoiding that chest buckle slippage that can happen!Cool Max Review

For the price this carseat is so luxe looking, and easy to use! Far and away the easiest system I’ve ever installed! You can check it out here!

cocoon cam [giveaway!]

Sponsored by Cocoon Cam picked by BabyList as the best baby monitor in 2018!

You’ve heard by now that our kids’ rooms are all in the basement while our room is on the main floor. We did this because we intend to be in the house for many years, and it while it’s not ideal when they’re little, it seemed preferable for a much bigger section of time. Have you done this? Are we in for it?  More worried about the big boys honestly. Does this kid look like he cares? Ha. (Never want to forget how he puts his legs up on the crib slats. They’re covered in footprints!)Cocoon Cam Giveaway We have an office on the main floor that could easily double as a nursery if it proves to be too much, but I am hoping that it won’t be too bad! To calm my own fears I think something like the Cocoon Cam in each room would be amazing! I am giving away one on Instagram today but check out all these features!Cocoon Cam Giveaway

  • Tracks breathing
  • Easy HD video pinch, zoom and night vision
  • Activity Log + Notifications
  • Intercom option

I know so many of you (like me) just can’t sleep well when you have a brand new baby. Even the nights THEY sleep, I am always checking their breathing and stressing. I love that this monitor tracks breathing without wearables. It installs and tilts so you have a perfect birds eye view or has an adhesive option, too! Cocoon Cam Giveaway I love that it tracks the baby’s day so you can get a better idea of how they are actually sleeping, stirring, or details you’d like to track when you’re at work or if they’re with a sitter. I love that you can try it out for 100 days, because there’s truly hundreds in the market and finding the right one for you shouldn’t be such a risky investment! new baby prep

This article lives on Wal-Mart.com in partnership with them! Check it out here!

When I think about having my first baby nearly eight years ago I look back at that girl so fondly. She was so uncontrollably excited to be a mom. I had graduated college only a few months before my due date and decided to quit my job about a month before my son came. I had been running at a break-neck pace most of my 4 year marriage. Full-time student, employed full-time and also working on side part-time projects and a business I had started. It all came to a halt a few weeks before I delivered and for the first time ever I could just sit around. No homework to be done, no deadlines at work, my entrepreneurial endeavors weren’t pressing. I didn’t know what to do with myself! And then he was born. Who knew the process of feeding and keeping a baby clean could take so many hours!?

New Baby Prep
The advice came rolling in “Sleep when he sleeps” (YES, DO THAT!) “Enjoy every second” (Pretty sure that’s not possible but I guess with the right outlook, sure!) SO much of the advice contradicted other advice and it is so easy to become overwhelmed and ashamed that you can’t be the right mom for your baby. New Baby Prep
That is where we are wrong, ladies. No one is a more perfect fit for your baby than you. They’re the only ones who have heard your heartbeat from the inside, you know your intention and your desire to do things right by them. The best part is they will love you no matter what. That unconditional love that can only come by being a parent is the most healing, encouraging, motivating thing in the world.
Getting advice bombs dropped on you? Just smile and nod. Take in what feels right to you and let the rest roll off your back. Nothing can compare to your intuition, to your gut, it has proven itself to me in my parenting thousands of times. The best advice I ever got was to trust myself and that has made all the difference.New Baby Prep
Now for the fun part, THE STUFF! It is so fun to prepare a space for your baby. While there are loads of products you and your baby probably won’t need, here is what I swear by!
AT HOME
You’ll find with a newborn there is asleep and then there is eating, and then there is sleeping again. So here’s what I think are musts for those two important times of day. 😉
SLEEP:
Wal-Mart has such a great collection of Babyletto which has such great modern pieces and accessories. You can’t go wrong with this Crib and Bedding Set.  It’s such a good deal, too! Black and White a great a neutral starting point, add pops of color with the decor and other accessories and you can use it for either gender and for multiple siblings to come! Pro tip: You’re gonna want a second and third back up crib sheet. These are my favorites: HERE and HERE.New Baby Prep
I don’t like things to be too matchy-matchy, so I veer away from buying sets and try to collect pieces that all go together! This shelving and changing pad combo is so minimal and airy and goes great with this crib which is so on trend with the light wood details!
Perhaps the place you will spend the most time in in the whole house is your nursery glider. Make sure it’s comfortable! I love a swivel glider and have this one in my nursery. I still rock my one year old to bed each night so it gets A LOT of use! I wish I knew to skip the ottoman, I found it was always in the way especially at night when you’re stumbling around.
 New Baby Prep
Whatever decor you decide on make black out curtains a priority. Studies have shown that sleeping in total darkness or, at the very least, dimness allows for a deeper sleep. All three of my boys are stellar sleepers and I attribute this partially to a dark room with a fan to block sound. But what I wish I knew with this is that whatever environment you create for them at home you’re going to need to recreate when traveling. So yep that means we carry a fan everywhere!
AWAKE:
As your baby gets older you’ll notice they get very handsy, wanting to grab at everything and it gets especially trying while you’re chasing their diaper or getting them dressed. Lay your baby on something soft and tactile and you might get a few wiggle free moments. Love this small area rug for just that!
My babies live in sleeping gowns in those early months. So many diaper changes you gotta keep it easy as possible. Then since you’re not giving them a blanket in bed until a year old, sleep sacks are an excellent way to keep them warm and cozy!  I wouldn’t bother with too many outfits those first few months, I always just want them to be comfortable, so I say keep them in PJs as long as you can get away with it!
 New Baby Prep
For me, helping my babies find good sleeping habits from the start included a good nighttime routine. Something we did every night to help calm and settle them. Usually a bath, lotion and massage, lullabies. With those calming scents and sounds they seemed to fight me less! Since half my kids have had sensitive skin issues I just start out with all-natural products like California Baby. This makes a great shower gift, too! Also Butt Paste is my go to for rashes, stock up!
I am always surprised at how early my babies are ready for a little bit of stimulation. Having ways to soothe and also engage them are equally important and something I wish I knew! This rattle is a great starter! Shiny, bright, different textures and easy to grip!New Baby Prep
ON-THE-GO
I know this is an investment and it is really the only one I make for this stage. If you’re planning on having multiple kids it will easily last you and after trying other brands I won’t go back. I swear by the Uppa Vista System and wish I would’ve treated myself to the bassinet attachment for all three kids instead of just my last! So much of my mental health after having a baby is getting out of my cave. Whether it’s for a walk or a solo trip to the store for more diapers. The bassinet attachment makes it so easy to be outside, they’re so comfortable and it is everything to me as a new mom! New Baby PrepMy favorite way to carry baby outside of the bassinet is a soft baby wrap! If your baby is fussy and doesn’t like to be put down, this will save you. If you have other children, this goes from a nice thing to have to an absolute must. Once they outgrow their infant seat get a convertible car seat! I love this one.New Baby Prep
Okay mamas and papas to be, I hope this helps! You truly have got this, and I am here and all ears with any questions you’ve got!

Graco Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat with TrueShield Technology

By Emily.

Raleigh is off the charts for weight, height, head, the whole enchilada. So needless to say carrying him around in his Infant seat became a struggle pretty fast! We loved our Uppa infant seat but as he has gotten taller and taller he simply didn’t fit it anymore! I have used Graco seats for all my boys now and was glad to try out the Extend2Fit because Raleigh is my first kid that will stay rear facing until he’s 2! This guideline wasn’t in place until Cal was long past the old requirements and I was secretly glad. Of course, we want our kids to be as safe as possible, but our old seats just weren’t equipped! The Extend2Fit 3-in-1 is made with those new guidelines in mind. So here’s my favorite features!Graco Extend2 Fit 3-in-1

  1. First and foremost, the fact that I need one seat until he’s out of a booster thrills me!
  2. Simply Safe™ Adjust Harness System: Simply Safe adjusts the height of the harness and headrest, in one motion, without having to rethread the straps. It has 10 different positions so I can easily adjust as Raleigh grows. Which I feel like I am adjusting so often. Stop growing, baby!! You can see below his head is perfectly nestled, where as his infant seat he was actually sticking up and out of it! Yikes!aDSC_4540
  3. Everything has this super easy one handle lift on it. So to lift the headrest, or pull out the leg extender (seen below) you just need one hand and virtually no muscle. Its so easy! This leg extension provides 5 more inches of leg room! This was my #1 concern about the 2 year rear facing guidelines, where do their legs go? He looks pretty comfy to me!graco
  4. When you’re rear-facing on the side of the seat is this handy level (seen above.) so you know based on their age exactly what position the seat should be at. They also say that the seat should always be at least 80% on the seat have they have little markers to show that guideline as well so you don’t go past that percentage.
  5. The latch on the harness is super easy to use and there is harness storage so you don’t have to mess with the straps when you’re trying to get them in and out. I love that!

Graco Extend2Fit6. The seat has reinforced steel so it will last up to ten years. So if we ever have another baby I don’t feel like I have to start over! We went with the all black and it looks awesome in our car. Raleigh loves being able to have a better viewpoint and seems a lot happier/more comfortable to be in a seat that fits him so much better as he’s grown!

7. From what I’ve read they also have TrueShield technology which provides advanced side impact protection from a child’s head to hips, offering a new level of safety to children!

Thanks to Graco for sending this seat for us to review! As always all reviews and opinions are my own and I’d love to hear which seats are your favorite for this age as well! You can buy this seat Prime or Target has 20% off right now as well!

Raleigh’s romper and backpack  // Emily’s tee, jacket, sunglasses

9 months!

By Emily, brought to you by Ergo.

It has been awhile since I gave an update on Raleigh and I am heartbroken to say he is 9 months old TODAY! Who who what what? (Name that movie.)  And he’s army crawling everywhere and loves the Wheels on the Bus and saying “hey” and eating literally all day long. He’s sleeping through the night! And of course now that I’ve announced that, he has started to teethe so it may be short lived, but it’s been a sweet couple months! Ergo Sleeping Bag[Two way zipper, for super easy diaper changes!]

In our new place the HVAC seems to be a little inconsistent, where it will be hot in one room and freezing in the next with no other apparent differences. For many nights I would go into check on him and he’d be freezing. Broke my heart. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he is sleeping better than ever, both in the day and in the night, after I started using the award winning (from The Bump’s Best of Baby Awards) Ergo Baby Sleeping Bag! Seriously such a life saver for me. I’ll share my favorite features under the photos, but keep reading for more Raleigh (actually just my mental state) updates. DSC_4501I always say, even though I am not certain we’re done having kids, he has felt like my last would. I cherish this baby so much. We all do! Even nine months in his magic hasn’t worn off. For about 6 months, and the entirety of my pregnancy with him I was terrified I would lose him. Not for any rational reason. Just because I wanted him so badly, and waited for a long time for him to come. So of course, I wouldn’t be able to keep him. TOTALLY RATIONAL, right? Have you ever had that feeling about something you’ve wanted? It will surely be taken away from you, how could little old you possibly deserve everything you want? I remember thinking something similar when I was 12. I thought for sure I would die before I turned 16 because all I wanted in this world was to drive a car. I dreamed of it, I sat in my brother’s truck and put CDs in and pretended to drive. And look at me now! Driving and still alive! This mentality of not being worthy of blessings, or waiting for the other shoe to drop is not new for me. But! I think I finally kicked it. Ergo Sleeping Bag[Cutest little bum vent. I don’t know if it’s the official purpose, but I like that I can asses the diaper situation before I undress him.]

I told you all how I read Daring Greatly and gave you the gist of this trick, but Ive had some questions about it since, so I wanted to expound. To recap, there was this passage in it that talks about this very same thing. And she called it “Coming from a place of scarcity” — where basically you feel like the opportunities, blessings, and good things in your life are finite and limited. Once you hit that limit, that’s all you get.

It’s funny because I don’t believe that about anyone else. Just me. What I know of my higher power, I know He has infinitely many blessings to give YOU! But I somehow left myself out of that. So, after reading that passage, she suggests every time you come across that feeling of dread, of scarcity of When is the other shoe going to drop? You stop it in its tracks and you think or say out loud how grateful you are for that very thing.Ergo Sleeping BagSo! Every time I would look at Raleigh and think “Oh man he’s too good, how long do I have left?!” (it sounds insane when I type it out.) I would stop and think “Oh my goodness I love you so much, I am so grateful you are here.” Or something to that effect. And I employed it in every other situation, too. In tricky relationships it has worked especially well. Just express gratitude. That’s all. Yeah duh, Emily. It’s not rocket science. <– You’re thinking that. But, it works. And I am so glad I had it presented to me in that just right way so I could finally get rid of that mentality. I feel like a changed person, truly. And I try not to think about all the time I wasted with that dread. What good does it do? Anyway, this was supposed to be about Ergo’s Sleeping Bag but it evolved. Ha! Honestly, I love this bag and I bought extras because I can’t even part with it during the laundry days. We’re hooked! Buy them here.

Traveling with Baby

By Emily in partnership with Ergo.

We’ve got Spring Break on the brain and fly miles to burn and so today is all about traveling with baby! Traveling with BabyI’ve already started using both the new Sophie La Giraffe 360 Carrier and their chic new Anywhere I Go Backpack (available exclusively at Babies R Us until March) but I keep thinking about a solo flight I took with Raleigh and how much easier my life would’ve have been with both. Here’s what I’ll be taking next time around! Traveling with Baby

Left to Right Top to Bottom:

First thing, if you’re on baby duty wear slip-on shoes. Something you can do absolutely hands-free. Thank Heavens for the mule trend! Mine are from here.Traveling with Baby

Binky Clips – Do you know you’ll drop your baby’s pacifier on average 30 times more in a crowded airport or flight than you will in your everyday life. Just kidding, but I swear it always feels that way. Blinky Clips are a must.

Books, Toys, Passports, wallets. The Ergo Backpack has so many options but I love the open pocket (behind the logo) for the items I need to pull out most often while in lines.

We have kiddo sized neck pillows for the big boys on road trips, but on a flight, its so great for baby too! It keeps them more secure through naps and turbulence and I swear Raleigh slept like a rock thanks to this pillow. If you have an extra seat for them it makes for the easiest transfer from arms to laying down.

Puffs, crackers, Mum Mums, yogurt dots. Pouches, bottles, sippies. WHATEVER it needs to be, have plenty. Keeping their mouths busy is great for changes in altitude and ear pressure. If they’re not old enough for gum, make sure snacks are a plenty. Fruit Leather is an absolute MESS but it will buy you 30+ minutes of peace.Traveling with Baby

I love Peppermint essential oil for flights for me and the kids. So great if they get air sick. Mustela makes this No Rinse Cleansing Wash and I love it when I can’t get them to a bath but they need a freshening up. After a sweaty flight, get them smelling sweet again!

Extra clothing, diapers, bibs. June and January makes these thick burp clothsTraveling With Baby for a myriad of uses. I love this silicon bib, so easy to clean off in a hurry. Raleigh is on bottles so extra formula in bags or tupperware and then I always bring a refillable water bottle
. I prefer
my Nalgene because I can unscrew and screw the lid onto my back pack strap so its ea
sy to locate. Fill it up after TSA and then you’re ready for whatever bottles you’ll need. I love this backpack because it has two insulated pockets on either side. Whatever you need kept warm, there is plenty of space! Also, I typically bring extra ziplock or grocery bags in case of spills, wet clothing etc, but these pockets are big enough to hold any of that! Waterproof, too so you won’t get the rest of your belongings wet.

Another nice hack is the changing pad thicker than others I’ve tried, so I lay it down on my extra seat for naps. Keeps them off the germy areas, and gives a little extra padding. Traveling with Baby

There are a million things more you could bring and have a super comfortable flight. I’ve found the best tip is to keep your cool. Even the most prepared mama in the world still might end up with a screaming baby. But, a deep breath and a calm energy can’t hurt. My kids always feed off my energy too, so if I start to panic it seems like everyone joins in!

Thanks to Ergo for sending these products for this post! You can find the Anywhere I Go Backpack and Sophie La Giraffe 360 Baby Carrier on their links!
